Shahida Tasneem Sarwar

Shahida is the founder of MWWA. Her immense hard work and dedication has made this organisation successful in helping women in this borough. She came to this country in her early teens, her parents chose Glasgow to settle. She got married and settled in London in 1976. While at home with her children she kept herself up to date with contemporary skills and got a diploma in teaching, dressmaking tutor's diploma, did computer and parenting facilitator courses. In 1987 she observed and identified that not many women organisations existed in Newham and Redbridge. This coaxed her to organise a group of women and eventually form the Muslim Women's Welfare Association. She has recently published her first novel "Sheba" in Urdu which contains prose and poetry.

Launch of Sheba

Sheba was launched in Avari Lahore in March 2006 It was attended by famous poets, authors, students and guests. It was presided by Minister of Customs and Excise of Pakistan.
